Newsletter of the Cadillac LaSalle Club of Canada Happy St. Patrick's Day !! March 2005 Well, so far this month has been quite exciting. We have had two auto occasions and both have been very successful. The first was the Memorial for Dave Goddard on March 7th., who was one of our local Hot Rod enthusiasts, cut down in his prime by Cancer. He had been very active in the automotive and trucking scene and was responsible for the construction of many of the hi-tech, prize winning machines in our area. The memorial included what turned out to be a mini Car Show with quite a number of the local clubs, including the CLCC, being represented.
The second was our Tour of the Cowichan Bay area, admirably set out by our events co-ordinator, Roger. (pictures available on the website at www.cadillaclasalleclubofcanada.com/events.htm )
The Tour to the Dog House - March 13 '05
Our day began with a morning of sunshine and warm temperatures, ideal for a Cadillac Tour. Some of us met in Brentwood Bay to take a sea cruise to Mill Bay while others went directly to the Dog House. Our Events Co-ordinator met us at the ferry dock in Mill Bay to guide us through the scenic Cowichan Valley country side. On arrival at the Dog House Restaurant we had the pleasure of meeting many members of the Duncan Vintage Car Club that brought out their Cadillacs to join us. Two CLCC cars made their debut at this event for our viewing pleasure. They were Wayne McCallum's 1972 Eldorado Convertible, in it's new and improved form and new paint. The other was Newell Morrison's 1992, seven passenger Cadillac Limo by Superior. Riding in that vehicle is like riding your living room down the street.
The lunch at the Dog House was delicious as always. On completion, the 26 well fed folks lined up the 14 Cadillacs and started a tour through Duncan and out to the home of Lloyd Smith. There, we were shown how to split wood with minimal effort and along with a plethora of mechanical treasures, a display of a 1934 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Lloyd fired the old girl up with a couple of kicks and took a ride around his field.
Many many thanks to Lloyd and the members of the Cowichan Valley Vintage Car Club for their hospitality and for making the day the best tour yet for the CLCC. We would like to invite those Cadillac enthusiasts from that area to come and join us on our garage tour to Naniamo on April third. We will be contacting them in the very near future to see if that would be to their pleasure.
CLCC Webb Site - www.cadillaclasalleclubofcanada.com
Have you checked it out lately? Click on the link above and install the address in your favorites as it is coming on strong! We must thank our Secretary Wayne Christmas for designing and building the new site that you see at the a/m address. The many hours he has put into this project have been well worth the effort. We will have all the bugs out of it shortly and will be keeping it active and up to date as events and other items occur.
CLCC Crests
Ruth Scott worked her magic with her computer and sewing machine and produced the club crest that we had approved by GM. A few have been distributed to the Executive of the club as a token of appreciation for the work they have put in. You may have seen them as they were passed around at the Dog House Tour and if you would like a copy, they will be made available at a cost of $5.00 which is to cover material costs. The club has yet to decide on a color scheme for shirts, Jackets or whatever so these were produced on a black background for now. The color scheme will be discussed at the next Tour to Naniamo, so if you have any ideas, please bring them with you.
Tour to Naniamo - April 3rd. '05
Arrangements have been made for a tour to Naniamo for a visit and garage tour of the Morley residence after a lunch somewhere along the way. We have also been invited to Norm and Lou Marr's as a continuation of the garage tour. Details are still being worked out so watch the website www.cadillaclasalleclubofcanada.com for further information.

GREASE FROM THE SQUEAKY WHEEL ! To preserve the weather strips around doors etc. use a silicon lube. If it's in a spray can spray the silicon on a cloth and wipe the weather strips do not spray directly as it will get on the paint and cause problems. Better yet. GM Has a silicon emulsion that you brush on. The spray cans are available at dealerships and auto parts stores. That's all for now. Squeak. CAR OF THE MONTH The 1956 Cadillac Sedan DeVille seen here belongs to Lloyd Smith of Duncan who is also the proud owner of cars and parts cars of this and other vintages. The vehicle has been restored to immaculate condition and shows very well at events throughout the lower island. The resto has taken some years but reveals the quality and lines of the Cadillacs of that period.
